It's remarkable how universal thrift stores are. All of the above can be found in Australian thrift stores as well. They are usually called "Op shops" here, which is short for opportunity shops. I'm not entirely sure what opportunity they offer. As well the above items, you are likely to find:

• A very beaten up copy of "Flowers in the attic".
• An album by Kamahl.

• Enough McDonalds Happy Meal toys to fill the Grand Canyon.
