The World of Crime

I just posted my first proper post on my new crime blog The World of Crime, an editorial comment on the Canadian crime duo Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.  As a wannabe criminologist, this is my main area of interest.  It's pretty rough, but at least it is a start!

I work for a Member of Parliament, Malcolm Allen, who just passed a motion that will prevent Karla from receiving a pardon:

"On Tuesday, Allen proposed a bill containing the key clause from Bill C-23 that would effectively bar Homolka from being pardoned. The bill was Allen’s second attempt to fast-track the legislation. On Monday, Allen presented a motion in Parliament to empower the National Parole Board to deny pardons that would “bring the administration of justice into disrepute.” The motion was defeated.

“Our office has been working for weeks to get this through—circulating the motion and the bill to the other parties, presenting it to the House Leaders, even offering it to the government to present as their own. We just wanted to get this done in time,” Allen said.

That is so awesome. The families of her victims must be so relieved.
