Baby it's cold outside....

There is a huntsman spider roaming around the house at the moment, and last night he was actually wondering around the loungeroom floor, probably hunting.  I dreamt he was following me.  I am usually not too scared, but I find it hard to deal with them when they are moving around - pick a spot, on the ceiling somewhere and stay there.
This is him:

Hmm..15cm=6inches! And he walked across the floor?
I'd certainly be on the ceiling. Or out the window. Sleeping would be out of the question.

He was in the bathroom the other morning when I was getting ready for work - and he dropped from the wall onto the shelf. I gasped and he saw me and froze and it felt like time stopped.... I spent the rest of the time in the bathroom watching him while I got dressed, while he watched me... Creepy pervert spider....

Shudder!
From other stories I've heard I don't think I'd do well in Oz. Must be hell for phobic folks.
If I ever get there you'll recognise me by the red maple leaves on my kevlar body suit. Oh, and the shotgun.

lol
It's not THAT bad where I am - I am down south, the really nasty things are mostly up north in the tropics.

There's no accounting for phobias Miss Lyd.
I live in the bush in eastern Canada. We have one very rare mildly poisonous spider but I'm still afraid of them. Probably inherited it from my grandmother.
My good friend and closest neighbour M. has lived here all his life and his family has been here for 200 years. Worked in the woods all his life yet he's afraid of snakes. We have no poisonous snakes, hell they don't even have teeth. The longest snake ever caught in the province was 2 feet 9 inches long and the average more like a foot. And this is a guy big enough to give a crocodile pause.
Actually I should bring him and his cousin D.from up the road. D. has been horse logging for nearly 50 years and he'd just eat the croc. But just show him a mouse...and watch a grizzled 250 pound gorilla jump!
But between the three of us we might get around Oz without too many squeals of terror. Well, except for the platypi ;-)
